It's taken me quite a while to post this. I'm not following the rules of my own blog anymore. In fact, I'm totally going against the rules. I'm not scheduling future posts anymore whatsoever. But, I'm going to explain some things about writing. I'm going to explain it through words. I'm going to explain it through emotion, religion, what ever you can think of. I will cover it. If not, send me in a contact form from the contact button below.
Through these weeks, I have met some interesting people. My friend was diagnosed with Leukemia, and I had my heart broken. So many things have happened within these weeks, and I'm still here to write for you. The person that was diagnosed with Leukemia I met when I had my heart broken. He comforted me and he doesn't deserve this disease that he has. But, on Thanksgiving, I met an even greater person. This person has opened up so many possibilities of questions within my mind. This person is a genius. At the age of nine, he taught himself how to build a computer. At the age of ten, he built his first computer. He is a very brilliant guy. He opened up the possibility that not everything is explained through science (which I believed). I'm not a religious person, and I've never been one. I asked him his opinion, though, on why people believed in religion to solve all of their problems.
"People need something to believe in. People need someone to recognize with, and people need something that is more powerful than them to fix everything. It's human nature." That's what he replied with. It got me thinking. If people need something to believe in, then couldn't anything be a religion? If I believed in a pair of cheetah print scissors to solve all my problems, would that be my religion? Or could that even be a religion? Based on you beliefs, it might change. I use writing as my religion. I realized this when he said it to me. If you use writing as your religion, I want you to keep reading. If you don't, I want you to open your mind up to more possibilities and continue to read.
**I CHOSE CHRISTIANITY BECAUSE THAT RELIGION IS WIDELY COMMON. I DID NOT CHOOSE IT TO OFFEND ANYONE. IF IT DID, I APOLOGIZE BECAUSE THAT WAS DEFINITELY NOT MY INTENTION.**
Writing as a religion is just the same as Christianity. In Christianity, you believe that Jesus or God or even Mary (if you are Catholic) will be there and take you up to Heaven if you don't commit any sins or if you are washed away of your sins before death. You also follow the Bible, whether it is the old testament or the new testament.
If you believe that writing is your religion, there are no rules. You can kill. You can steal. You can disrespect your parents. In fact, writing encourages you to do that! Your religion is all about making up a giant lie into one big book. That's what it is about. Whether you choose to write about a serial killer, or a high school student rebel, or a chain of robberies, you are still encouraging and following writing as a religion. Writing as a religion doesn't have a rule book. It doesn't have something that defines what you can and can't write about. Hell, you don't even have to follow grammar rules in order to be a writer and follow the "writing as a religion" movement, that I now declare is a thing.
To some, having a certain religion is what defines them, which isn't true. It's not what you believe in that defines you. What defines you is who you are inside. What you believe in is only a fraction of your personality. I'm not saying that you need to change your religion, but what I am saying is open your mind to new possibilities. I opened my mind to believing that writing is a religion. Opening my mind to new possibilities... to new beliefs... to new identities is what makes my writing fresh and new every time I sit down to write. How do you refresh your writing robotics? Do you sit down and just sit there staring at the blank sheet of paper and think? Or do you jump right in and start jotting down words until you have an idea? Either way, you have some way of getting your gears moving. That's all you need. In order to open up your mind, you first need to close your mind off and think. If your mind is already open and your willing to accept any idea, then go for it! Come up with new and amazing ideas that have never been written before. A wise man once said, "Only by seeking challenges can we hope to find the best in ourselves" The man that said this was Robert Rodriguez. Seek challenges, and don't give up because right when you give up, you're on the edge of succeeding.
